THE MYTH ABOUT CONFIDENCE

Chatting about everyone’s favorite topic on the podcast today…CONFIDENCE! If you just rolled your eyes, this one’s absolutely for you! Francesca gets raw and real about her struggles with confidence and how she combats them to feel strengthened like the boss she is.

Okay friends, Francesca here, let me give it to ya straight - I struggle with confidence. I’m not an extrovert. And on bad days, I just want to sit in my office alone with a cup of coffee and some Netflix and hope that tomorrow will be better.

I have the tendency to leave confidence to chance. I say things to myself like, "If I feel good, then I’ll work out or "if I feel good about myself, then I'll go out and network with new people."

What's interesting though is, I ALWAYS feel good when I work out. And even if I don't feel 100% when I leave my house, I ALWAYS feel confident after I network and meet new people. So it's a matter of retraining our mindset to continually DO things that we know makes us feel good, confident, beautiful, fantastic - whatever the word is.

“Confidence is not something you have, it's something you generate.” - Francesca Vasta

So how, can we generate confidence you may ask? In today's episode we dove in FIVE ways you can generate your own confidence and tools to help you do so!

Let's get started, shall we!

5 WAYS TO GENERATE CONFIDENCE

1. Envision Your Best Self. Constantly.

Media Mogul, Rachel Hollis, has an AMAZING practice that she swears by called the Start Today journal. In this journal, you literally write all of your goals for your life as if you’ve already achieved them. It’s genius. Your brain's job is to prove you're right. It naturally believes what you tell it. So if you are constantly feeding your brain with self-deprecating words, then helloooo it'll believe it. But what if, instead, you started telling your brain beautiful, strong, outstanding things about yourself? Well *cue* your happiest dance then folks, cause you'll believe it! And once you believe wonderful and amazing things about yourself - you'll BECOME it.

2. Do things that scare you. Often.

We’ve all heard practice makes perfect. Well darling, as we get older, this still applies. You want to nail that next networking event and work the room, practice! Attend a ton of networking events, read books about how to network, practice with a friend as if you're meeting them for the first time! We live in a digital age, my friends. That means, there hundreds if not thousands of FREE resources available to us 24/7. Determine what scary thing you're going to accomplish; then, practice like HECK until it doesn't scary you anymore. You got this!

3. MOVE your body!

Like I said earlier, I always feel better when I work out. Release those endorphins and get your body moving. It’s even better when you can work out to some true “level up” music. To help, we’ve created a playlist of some of our favorite boss music to get ya going.

4. Discipline!

If you can learn anything from me, learn this: Don’t leave confidence to chance. Find people to hold yourself accountable. Want to be more confident at the gym? Grab a workout buddy! Go to the gym together! Set a schedule so that you BOTH have to stick to it! Or talk to a nutritionist and set a health plan! Work together to find a realistic schedule for your dietary needs and have your nutritionist check in with you.

5. Find yourself in people you aspire to.

Calling on our fave girl, Lizzo, for this one. Whenever one of us is feeling off, we say, channel that Lizzo level confidence. Cause that girl is SHINING! So when we were planning this episode I literally typed in “Lizzo confidence” on Google and an article by Glamour came up.

“So if you want to see somebody who's beautiful who looks like you, go on the internet and just type something in. Type in blue hair. Type in thick thighs. Type in back fat. You'll find yourself reflected. That's what I did to help find the beauty in myself." – Lizzo
